The Assembler position is a professional role in a manufacturing environment, applying extensive knowledge and skill in assembly work. This position operates with minimal supervision to perform assigned assembly processes in accordance with military and other applicable assembly standards, using visual aids and verbal or written instructions. Additionally, the Assembler communicates with all levels of the Value Stream and performs both visual and dimensional inspections.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned assembly tasks.
- Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies.
- Test finished assemblies.
- Set up and operate assigned equipment and machinery.
- Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals.
- Train and mentor new employees and other team members in new processes, procedures, and tools.
- Prioritize daily demand per Master Schedule Report for the cell(s) they are working in.
- Discuss and problem solve quality issues with Manufacturing Engineers, the Quality group, and leadership.
- Create work orders, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for quality and material issues, and First Article Inspection’s (FAIs) at 'In process/End Item' as well as other assorted assembly functions.
- Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA policy; proactively identify safety concerns or issues and work with the Engineering group to implement solutions.
- Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement.
- Visually check completed work against drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Cross-train to work on at least 5 products.
- Complete job-related company training courses.
- Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise.
- Be flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary.
- Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits.
- Perform inventory tasks.
- Repair/rework defective or returned assemblies as required.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
- IPC J‑STD fine soldering certification or equivalent documented soldering experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strong reading comprehension, including the ability to interpret production prints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, and fine manipulation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high‑volume environment.
- Proficient computer skills and comfort with standard software.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment
The work environment is highly regulated in the aerospace industry, featuring clean room areas. The position requires working Monday to Friday, with shifts from 2:30pm to 11:00pm or 5:00am to 1:30pm. Dress code and safety procedures are strictly adhered to ensure a safe working environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $53269.00 - $60756.00/yr.
