About the Role:
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes by providing respiratory care through various therapeutic techniques and equipment management. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring comfort and safety while delivering effective respiratory treatments. Ultimately, your work will contribute to improving patients' quality of life and supporting their recovery.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current and valid Respiratory Therapist license or certification as required by the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple patient cases effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact clearly with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Clean driving record
- Take On-Call
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Experience working in home care.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and healthcare documentation software.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans based on physician orders and clinical assessments.
- Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medications, mechanical ventilation, and airway management.
- Monitor patient progress and response to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
- Operate and maintain respiratory care equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques, disease management, and preventive measures.
- Document all treatments, observations, and patient responses accurately in Brightree (EMR).
- Work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

The required skills in respiratory therapy are essential for delivering effective patient care, including assessing respiratory function and administering treatments such as oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation. Working with minimal supervision demands strong decision-making abilities and confidence in clinical judgment to manage patient needs independently. Effective communication skills are vital for educating patients and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care. Proficiency in respiratory care techniques allows the therapist to adapt treatments based on patient responses and evolving clinical conditions. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with EMR systems and advanced certifications, enhance the therapist's ability to provide comprehensive care and stay current with best practices in respiratory therapy.
