Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for timely processing of a variety of accounting transactions including and not limited to general journal maintenance, asset management, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drive month-end close process; post month-end journal entries; analyze and reconcile GL accounts.

2. Assists in reporting functions using excel for internal and external reporting. Verifies accuracy of data using excel.

3. Verifies accuracy of data entered through use of information systems reports.

4. Performs daily accounting functions and assists controller and other managers in a variety of accounting and finance projects.

5. Alerts management and members of information system support of any issues that may negatively impact the accuracy of accounting functions.

7. Assist with the preparation of accurate financial reports for internal management.

8. Accounts payable, statement reconciliations, and check run.

9. Prepare payables reports and complete check runs for approved bills.

10. Maintains confidentiality and safety of patient clinical records.

11. Complies with the organization's policies and procedures.

12. Participates in inservice education programs.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

1. At least two years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a health care environment.

2. Two years working with Microsoft Office systems with emphasis in Excel.

3. AS degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field. (Required)

4. BS degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field. (Preferred)

5. Strong understanding of GAAP accounting, specifically accrual.

6. Ability to meet the public and staff as a positive, friendly, and professional representative of the agency.

7. Effective social interaction, communication, and organizational skills.
