Overview
Under the direction of the MAT Medical Director, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) delivers comprehensive clinical services to individuals enrolled in the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. The LVN provides approproate medical and supportive care, including administering injections, taking vitals, coordinating labs and pharmacy needs, and facilitating communication with psychiatric and medical providers. Additionally, the LVN promotes patient wellness by offering education and leading health-related classes.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the evaluation of patients’ physical, psychological, and social needs; collaborates with RNs and other healthcare staff to help develop individualized treatment plans.
- Carries out treatment programs, administers medications (including IV therapy when certified), performs diagnostic tests, and assists with medical procedures following established protocols and safety standards.
- Counts and secures controlled substances and medical equipment; responds to health emergencies and codes in line with standard procedures.
- Aids in implementing nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, provides patient education, and utilizes resources for optimal patient care outcomes.
- Documents patient care using SOAP notes, communicates effectively with medical staff and departments, and attends required meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
- Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
