Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide communication support within a school environment. This position is based in Middlebury, VT, and involves travel between educational facilities to facilitate effective communication for students and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate with teachers, students, and families to ensure effective communication.
- Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) where necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics.
- Travel to various school locations to meet the needs of the assigned caseload.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification preferred.
- Experience working in educational settings is highly valued.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to travel reliably within the school district or region.
