POSITION PURPOSE: The dietary services cook is responsible to assure meal(s) on assigned shift (Thurs. - Mon.) are prepared in accordance with menu and recipes for Clatsop Care Memory Community. Must assure meals are delivered in timely manner; presented in attractive manner and palatable using established procedures in response to food service preparation, delivery requirements, and using appropriate food handling requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Others may be assigned:
Makes every effort in good faith to support the overall health and holistic well-being of residents. Practices good sanitation in handling food and equipment. Knows and applies infection control techniques and standards. Responsible for prompt and efficient organizing, preparing and delivery of meals on assigned shift. Responsible for knowing and honoring resident’s known food preferences and diet restrictions. Assigns tasks and supervises dietary aide. Has a general knowledge of resident’s physical and mental status as it affects nutritional needs and consumption of food and fluids. Responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in the dietary department and for completing assigned cleaning tasks. Able to organize and prioritize tasks to perform with accuracy, in a safe manner and with concern for equipment and environment. Informs Supervisor of equipment and dietary supply needs. Has the ability to work with residents that may be confused, demanding and unreasonable. Presents a professional demeanor at all times to other staff, residents and public.
- Attend in-service meetings and continuing education to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Has basic knowledge of food preparation, food delivery and diet variations.
Must possess ability to learn and follow directions. Possess the ability to judge quality of food prepared and aesthetic presentation.
Capable and willing to decipher and follow guidelines provided for preparation and service of meals.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand much of an 8 hour shift and occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust or focus.
