Job DescriptionUBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is looking for a part time MRI Technologist. Hours are 8am to 4pm on Saturdays, at our 716 Health Clinic located at 111 N. Maplemere Drive, Williamsville, NY 14221. *Qualified candidates must be MRI trained.*
Job Title/Summary
The MRI Technologist provides care, preparation and positioning of patients to obtain high quality diagnostic images to aid in patient diagnosis.
Duties
- Utilizes magnetic resonance imaging to capture specific images ordered by physician by preparing and operating MRI equipment, positioning patients correctly and effectively recording the requested diagnostic images under established standards. Explains procedures to patient.
- Programs the machine to the proper protocol as dictated by the Physician.
- Monitors the patient’s condition before and after the scan to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Enforces magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operator and staff.
- Collaborates with both internal and external health care team members to contribute to the plan of care of the patient.
- Assists with scheduling, patient and medical office requests as necessary.
- Respects and protects the confidentiality of all patient and Company information through the adherence of all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Works efficiently using PAS and EMR.
- Train Radiologic Technologist and Radiology students to perform MRI imaging/safety.
- Follow direction of the MRI Safety Officer (MRSO), while always practicing MRI safety.
- Assumes other responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications
- Education Requirements
- AAS in Radiological Technology or successful completion of approved ARRT Certification program required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must possess NYS DOH Radiologic Technologist License.
- Will possess NYS DOH Certification to inject contrast within (4) months of hire date as MRI Technologist.
- Experience Requirements
- One-year Radiologic Technologist or One year MRI experience is preferred.
- One-year Radiologic Technologist or One year MRI experience is preferred.
- Skills and Competencies Requirements
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required. Must be able to multi-task and desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Physical Activity
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 25% - 50% of the work day. Must be able to transport patients using gurneys, wheelchairs or other equipment.
Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily in a clinical setting, with light to moderate noise levels.
