Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Secretary, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office. You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service while managing administrative tasks that keep our clinic running efficiently. Your expertise in medical terminology and office management will be essential as you support our healthcare professionals and enhance patient experiences. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is cross-trained as a Medical Assistant, and the compensation will vary dependent on whether you are cross-trained.
What you’ll do
- Greet patients warmly and assist with the check-in process, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage scheduling for appointments, coordinating with healthcare providers to optimize patient flow.
- Handle medical records with precision, maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process insurance verifications and assist patients with billing inquiries to ensure clarity and transparency.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Harris Caretracker and Athelas AIR EHR for documentation and patient management.
- Conduct thorough documentation reviews to ensure accuracy in coding (ICD-10, CPT) and billing processes.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, maintaining up-to-date patient information and managing multi-line phone systems effectively.
Basic qualifications
- Proficient in medical terminology and EHR systems; experience with Harris Caretracker or Athelas AIR is a plus.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; familiarity with EPIC is advantageous.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is highly desirable.
- Cross trained as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes and medical billing practices is beneficial.
