Grant Writer/Manager – Development & Communications (Temp to Perm)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – Schedule TBD)

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, with occasional evenings or weekends

Compensation: $35-$40 hrly, depending on experience

Start Date: ASAP

A mission-driven nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking a skilled Grant Writer/Manager to support their Development & Communications department. This role is a temp-to-perm opportunity and is ideal for a candidate with a passion for social impact and a proven track record of securing funding from government, corporate, and foundation sources.

The Grant Writer/Manager will be responsible for managing a robust pipeline of funders, drafting compelling grant proposals and reports, and collaborating cross-functionally with program, finance, and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and submit letters of intent, concept papers, and grant proposals (private, corporate, and government).
  • Manage grant reporting, deadlines, compliance, and renewals.
  • Serve as point of contact for institutional funders and maintain funder relationships.
  • Research and pursue new institutional funding opportunities.
  • Partner with internal teams to gather data, metrics, and financials to support applications.
  • Provide project management for government RFP responses.
  • Support fundraising events with a focus on donor engagement and sponsorships.
  • Supervise departmental interns or Associate Board members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree or certification a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, and funder relations.
  • Proven success securing government, foundation, and corporate grants ($10K+).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Strong project management abilities with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and donor database systems (DonorPerfect or similar is a plus).
  • Collaborative and self-driven with a deep commitment to social impact.
