Job Summary:The Fraud Manager at SunWest Federal Credit Union plays a crucial role in safeguarding the financial well-being of our members. The Fraud Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing fraud prevention aa well as detection strategies to protect our members and the credit union from various forms of fraudulent activities. This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of financial fraud, risk management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement fraud prevention strategies and controls to minimize the risk of future incidents.
  • Stay updated on the latest fraud trends and methodologies to adapt to new threats.
  • Assess the potential impact of fraudulent activities on the organization, identify patterns, trends, and anomalies indicative to financial and reputational risks.
  • Provide recommendations on risk mitigation strategies and preventive measures.
  • Regularly review and update risk management policies and procedures to align with industry best practices.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports documenting findings and recommended actions.
  • Communicate with management and other relevant stakeholders to share insights and suggest improvements.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as customer support, finance, and IT, to share information and address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Educate employees and partners on fraud awareness and prevention strategies.
  • Responsible for the development and management of Fraud Department Staff.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field Advanced degree or certification in fraud prevention; or proven experience (5+ years) in fraud management within the financial industry preferably in a credit union or banking environment.
  • Three to five years related banking experience required.
  • Three years minimum management experience required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Understanding of Credit Union services and products and Credit Union philosophy.
  • Proficiency in using software and tools for data analysis and investigation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of fraud prevention tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to fraud prevention as well as compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal as well as interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivy standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally on the telephone.
