Position Summary
The Masking Technician is responsible for preparing aerospace components for surface finishing processes including anodize, chemical conversion coating, painting, and other treatments. This role is critical to ensuring parts are properly protected prior to processing and meet customer and specification requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret work orders, travelers, and engineering drawings
- Mask parts using tapes, plugs, boots, caps, and other approved materials to protect designated surfaces
- Verify correct masking locations per customer specifications and internal instructions
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of masking area
- Inspect masked parts prior to release to processing
- Assist with de-masking and post-process cleaning as required
- Follow all AS9100 and NADCAP quality standards
- Maintain proper documentation and traceability
- Support overtime and weekend production schedules as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year experience in manufacturing preferred, aerospace experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read basic blueprints and job travelers
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions
- Good manual dexterity and steady hand skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs
- Reliable attendance and ability to work in a team-based production environment
- Willingness to work overtime when required
Preferred
- Experience in aerospace surface finishing or plating environments
- Familiarity with masking for anodize, chem film, or paint processes
- Understanding of quality documentation and traceability standards
