Role Overview
As a Business Development Representative, you will manage the full sales cycle. This includes identifying potential shipping customers, conducting discovery, presenting solutions, negotiating pricing, onboarding accounts, and maintaining long-term relationships. You will work closely with operations and carrier teams to ensure every shipment delivers a positive customer experience.
This role is ideal for someone who understands logistics, communicates with confidence, and operates with urgency and discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive outbound prospecting through cold calling, email outreach, networking, and industry tools.
- Build qualified lead lists and identify key decision makers.
- Conduct discovery calls to understand freight patterns, customer challenges, and buying preferences.
- Present comprehensive multimodal solutions including TL, LTL, intermodal, drayage, air and ocean, and global forwarding.
- Generate accurate quotes using market analytics, capacity trends, and lane intelligence.
- Negotiate pricing and service requirements to secure profitable freight.
- Collaborate with operations and carrier teams for smooth and reliable execution.
- Maintain accurate CRM activity, including pipeline updates and forecasting.
- Develop strong customer relationships based on service, consistency, and trust.
- Monitor market trends, seasonal changes, and competitor activity.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation, freight brokerage, logistics, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales, business development, or customer-facing positions.
- Proven ability to cold call, prospect, and convert leads.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Resilient, persistent, and highly accountable.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Strong competitive drive with a commitment to achieving performance goals.
- Experience with cradle-to-grave freight management is preferred.
- Multimodal or international freight experience is an advantage.
