The CNC Machinist’s main responsibility is to set up and operate vertical/horizontal 2, 3, or 5 axis milling equipment. They will need to read GD & T, drawings, specs, and other work instructions, generate tool paths for 2D and 3D milling, and inspect and verify finished work pieces to specifications. The machinist will also set up, operate, and monitor mills to ATC machining standards, as well as calculate and set controls to regulate machining parameters.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate vertical/horizontal 2, 3, or 5 axis milling equipment.
- Read GD & T, drawings, specs, and other work instructions.
- Generate tool paths for 2D and 3D milling.
- Set up, operate, and monitor mills to ATC machining standards.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining parameters (speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut).
- Select, align, and secure work holding fixtures, angle plates, and vices.
- Inspect and verify finished work pieces to specifications.
Essential Skills
- Experience working with large machines such as MITSUBISHI, MECOF, OKK, Pratt, YCM, Okuma (4-12 meters).
- Minimum of 4 years in the trade.
- Journeyman card preferred.
- Experience in the automotive industry, specifically working on doors, hoods, and fenders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Heidenhein, Fanuc, Fidia, Mitsubishi, Okuma, SMIRT controls.
- Proficient with tools such as calipers, depth micrometers (non-digital), bore gauges, inside & outside micrometers, test & travel indicators.
- Blueprint reading, CNC programming, and troubleshooting skills.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $33.00/hr.
