This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Coding Specialist to accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for emergency room encounters - No Injections and Infusions or E/M - Mostly diagnosis coding and procedures. This remote role is ideal for coders who excel in independent work environments and are motivated by performance-based compensation. Coders will be expected to maintain high productivity and quality standards while navigating complex documentation across multiple specialties.

  • Per-Chart Pay Model: Earn $2.25 per chart. High-performing coders average 11-12 charts per hour, with earnings directly tied to output.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Work hours available between 6 AM – 6 PM PST, including weekends. Full-time and part-time options available.

  • Code emergency department charts, including trauma cases, urgent care visits, and procedural documentation
  • Apply coding guidelines to ensure compliance with payer and regulatory standards
  • Maintain productivity targets (average 10 charts/hour) and quality scores above 95%
  • Communicate with QA teams to resolve discrepancies and improve accuracy
  • Keep up-to-date with ED-specific coding changes and best practice



Requirements

  • Certification: Active AHIMA or AAPC Certification (CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of emergency department coding experience
  • Technology: Proficiency with EPIC and 3M 360 platforms.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with ED workflows, documentation styles, and coding nuance
  • Skills: High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and excellent communication. Proven ability to meet high-volume productivity goals. Experience with remote coding systems and per-chart compensation models
  • Work Environment: Remote work with flexible scheduling options.
