Summary:
Under the direction of the Director or VP., the Operations Manager will manage the overall operations of the branch including Inside sales and service, profit and loss of the facility, inventory management, respond to customer inquiries regarding products and services, quote prices, source products, and process customer orders, and support the outside sales team.
Responsibilities of the Operations Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Promotes continual improvement initiatives and monitors product quality, process capabilities and various quality performance indices to ensure products comply with relevant governing standards and specifications.
- Continually reviews manpower utilization and recommends adjustments in labor force and staffing needs (in conjunction with production schedules) to optimize the manufacturing performance and departmental efficiencies. Measures result against budgets and takes appropriate actions to correct weaknesses and inefficiencies.
- Actively participates in the development of supervisory ranks in the manufacturing operations, conducts performance evaluations and recognizes training needs and weaknesses requiring improvements.
- Ensure high levels of customer's satisfaction.
- Manage shop service department.
- Report on buying trends, customer needs, and profits.
- Propose innovative ideas to increase market share.
- Consistently identify new operational opportunities and develop strategies for accomplishing improved efficiency and productivity.
- Address the needs of the customer while at the same time promoting and protecting the long-term interests of the Company.
- Initiate and implement production and scheduling-related programs, strategies and techniques that result in increased productivity, and maintain safe operations of the assigned plants, while containing the budgeted expenses of the assigned plants.
- Delegate responsibilities; must be able to objectively evaluate the performance of subordinates; and must be able to hold others accountable in a constructive manner.
- Participate in Company safety inspections as well as OSHA inspections.
- Supervise team to maintain production and efficiency.
- Schedule production and execute preventative maintenance routines and help coordinate repair activities.
- Maintain sufficient inventory levels at site to service customer needs.
- Coordinate safety issues and investigate incidents with safety department.
- Ensure environmental compliance, rehabilitation, and meeting permit obligations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of the Operations Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor's degree and or 5 years of experience in a leadership position.
- Requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to direct, manage, and motivate, technical staff, administrators, and plant workers.
- Provides organizational focus on continuous improvement and goal achievements.
- Ability to develop employees to their maximum potential regardless of their formal education.
- Basic understanding of cost accounting principles and financial statements.
- Recommends plans and budgets and conducts activities in accordance with approval and
- Ability to work as part of cross-functional teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interface and collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure positive results.
- Proven track record of leadership and management.
- Well-developed decision-making skills.
