Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a cardiac-focused unit requiring ACLS, NIH Stroke certification, and the ability to manage cardiac drips on night shift.

Details

  • 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit (8AB) in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes cardiac rule-out (stress test, echo), CHF exacerbations, pre/post cardiac cath, and alcohol detox patients
  • Cardiac drips include Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin — no pressors; ability to titrate drips is expected
  • Equipment includes Alaris pumps and Hercules beds
  • Lines and devices include JP drains, occasional stable chest tubes, ports, PICC lines, and chronic BiPAP/CPAP patients; no specialty lines, acute respiratory needs are transferred
  • Occasional chronic trach patients; no ventilators
  • Max oxygen delivery is nasal cannula
  • 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, every other holiday
  • Unit secretary on-site Monday–Friday, 7a–3p; 2–4 PCTs depending on volume and staffing
  • Night shift charge nurses take a patient assignment; day shift charge varies by census
  • EMR: Epic (training preferred)

Requirements

  • Active OH RN license or valid Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Pre/post cardiac cath experience required
  • Ability to titrate cardiac drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Heparin)
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia/EKG exam (study guide provided; two attempts allowed on first day)
  • Proof of address required for consideration (e.g., Driver's License, voter registration card, federal tax return, military form, or W-2)
  • Full SSN and date of birth (MM/DD) required for consideration
  • 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
  • Nursys license verification required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, and coordinating care across the interdisciplinary team
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Local candidates are not accepted
