Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Weekender MS/Telemetry position on a 36-bed unit, requiring ACLS, NIH Stroke certification, and experience with cardiac patients including pre/post cath care.
Details
- Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit (8AB) in an acute care hospital setting
- 36-bed unit with a higher-than-average cardiac patient population, including chest pain/cardiac rule-out (stress test, Echo), CHF exacerbations, pre/post cardiac cath patients, and alcohol detox patients
- Common drips include Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin; no pressors used on this unit
- Equipment includes Alaris pumps and Hercules beds
- Lines and drains encountered include JP drains, occasional stable chest tubes, ports, and PICC lines; no specialty lines or devices
- Oxygen delivery limited to nasal cannula; patients with acute high-flow O2 needs are transferred
- Occasional chronic trach patients; no vents
- Charting system: Epic EHR
- 12-hour day shifts on a weekender schedule (Friday–Sunday or Saturday–Monday)
- Unit secretary available Monday–Friday, 7a–3p; 2–4 PCTs on unit depending on volume and staffing needs
- Night shift charge nurse takes a patient assignment; day shift charge assignment varies by census
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; at least 6 months in an acute care hospital setting preferred
- Pre/post cardiac cath experience required
- Ability to titrate drips required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
- Proof of address required for consideration (accepted documents: driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, Military Form 2058, or W2 from the US government)
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
- Nursys license verification required for consideration
Additional Information
- Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required on the first day; two attempts permitted and a study guide will be provided
- Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, develops and implements individualized plans of care, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
- Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers
- Manages patients with multisystem conditions, utilizing clinical judgment to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions
- Navy blue scrubs required
- BSN preferred
- Epic EHR experience preferred
