S-Head Machine Operator
2nd shift - $19.25/hour
On-the-job training
Objectives:
Performs processing of operations and support to the S-Head Department in compliance with Merit Brass policy and procedures
Uphold the Merit Brass corporate mission statement, acting with a sense of urgency and upholding the core values as published
Maintain a professional, ethical and respectful attitude while exercising teamwork
Responsibilities
Support the manufacturing operation by consistently meeting or exceeding the departments efficiency and productivity goals
Complete setup and operate all S-head machines, as directed through procedures and by operations supervisor
Operate in a safe manner in accordance with Merit Brass safety policies and procedures
Understand and follow all appropriate production procedures and work instructions
Understanding of scanning procedure to effectively start and end production jobs using the data collection system
Perform S-head threading machine functions (change chasers, work touchscreen, etc.)
Operation of multiple machines to meet required expectations
Loading and unloading of stainless parts to prevent mixing of mill and heat numbers
Inspect and record quality according to specifications and procedures
Perform constant visual quality inspection (torn or crooked threads, quality ream, etc.)
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs required by operators as needed each shift, week or as directed by supervision
Perform daily housekeeping processes and organization in the department
Work on your own and with others to improve the operation in terms of safety, quality, productivity, and cost control
Other responsibilities, as needed, to ensure the success of the S-head department operation and company as a whole
Requirements:
High school graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent
30-day transition from current role to set-up/operator responsibilities.
Involvement with exit conversation of current role during this 30-day period
Basic computer skills including general PC operation in Windows and data entry.
Ability to use and read a scale/ruler up to 1/32 and basic inspection gauges (Rings, caliper, etc.)
Excellent work habits including punctuality, attendance, and work ethic
Ability to work individually and with others to continuously improve our company
Standing, bending for entire shift, capable of lifting 50-70 lbs. frequently, pushing and pulling bulky material and carts weighing up to 200 lbs., fine manipulation of hands for roll marking set up
Willing and able to continuously improve yourself, others, and the operations in a fast-paced, changing environment
Willingness and ability to work overtime when asked by a supervisor
