Payroll Specialist (Part-Time, Fully Remote)
CV Resources is partnering with a fast-growing, nationally operating organization to identify a Payroll Specialist for a fully remote role (must be U.S. Based and live in PST or MST time zones). This position will support ongoing payroll operations due to increased workload and offers flexibility for candidates seeking 15–20 hours per week, with potential to expand to full-time for the right individual.
Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for accurately processing multi-state (25 states) payroll, with a strong emphasis on California payroll compliance. This role will collaborate closely with Finance leadership and support biweekly payroll for a growing employee population.
Key Responsibilities

Process biweekly payroll for approximately 125 employees across 25 states

Ensure compliance with California payroll regulations (required)

Administer payroll using Rippling and support payroll data as needed

Assist with quarterly commission payroll (calculations prepared by Sales Operations)

Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies

Maintain payroll records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality

Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to support audits and reporting needs
Required Qualifications

Proven experience processing California payroll

Experience supporting multi-state payroll

Ability to work during PST or MST business hours (required)

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage payroll independently

Experience working in a fully remote environment
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Rippling strongly preferred
