Providing specialized care to a diverse med/surg patient population, this 13-week contract position requires a dedicated and experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts at a well-established hospital in Evansville, IN. The 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM involve working primarily on a 41-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:6-7 during nights. This role demands adaptability with floating to nearby campuses within the skill set and working on a unit that values experienced leadership and CNA support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering comprehensive nursing care to post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, COPD, CHF, and high fall-risk patients
  • Managing specialty skills such as remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, catheterization, ostomy care, Heparin drips, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
  • Utilizing EPIC for accurate and meticulous charting (recent EPIC experience required)
  • Demonstrating strong assessment and critical thinking skills to respond effectively to patient needs
  • Supporting a collaborative environment, potentially precepting students and new hires in this teaching hospital

Qualifications:

  • Current active compact RN license
  • AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Med/Surg nursing, including at least one travel assignment and trauma level II experience
  • Ability to adapt to floating assignments with 2-hour notice within the systems campuses
  • Resilience, strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills
