Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage essential relationships with suppliers to assure compliance with contract terms.
- Maintain an active formulary list of items approved by the P&T Committee and ensure that the Pharmacy Department is only using approved medications and escalate deviations from formulary to the Director of Pharmacy when they occur.
- Maintain a list of current and upcoming medication shortages to ensure timely delivery of information to the medical staff regarding shortages and back orders.
- Plan, organize, and supervise the physical inventory process.
- Purchase materials in a timely manner and at the lowest cost, while keeping with spending limits.
- Analyze inventory movement and establish PAR levels of inventory within the pharmacy.
- Review purchase orders and work with the Finance department to ensure compliance with company policy.
- Ensure compliance with DSCSA by maintaining all required materials electronically.
- Monitor low-moving inventory and work with the Clinical Pharmacy manager to remove and return low-moving inventory to a reverse distributor when possible.
- Conduct periodic supplier and vendor evaluation in relation to business needs.
- Monitor purchase requests for accuracy and validity.
- Manages pharmaceutical inventory, drug supply, all related procedure including invoice, payment, return the drugs to wholesalers or pharmaceutical vendors.
- Oversees 340b purchases and reporting to DOP on monthly basis.
- Oversees the borrow/loan process monthly and reconcile monthly.
- Coordinates purchasing and is responsible for maintaining clinical and operations office supplies inventory and budget; coordinates all departmental, interdepartmental and individual meetings for the Director and related committee meetings.
- Review all purchase requests to assure that requisitions meet with corporate purchasing policies
- Follow naming convention for PO using appropriate department numbers
- Place orders in the hospital purchasing system, creating PO
- Follow up on all backordered/shorted items
- Analyze all purchases for contact opportunities
- Notify Pharmacy Manager of product shortages
- Manages remote hospital clinics
- Assist offices in placing orders
- Assist offices in following up on orders
- Assist offices with delivery issues
- Communicate with offices regarding supply issues
- Checks for expired medication and other policies related to the Joint Commission.
- Oversees and monitors all departmental maintenance under the supervision of the Director.
1 to 3 years of experience
Associate’s degree or equivalent
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
