Job Title: Real Estate Bookkeeper / Controller

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Controller with a strong background in commercial real estate accounting. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of accounting experience, with a proven track record in managing financial operations for real estate portfolios. This role requires close collaboration with property managers to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes.
- Perform Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets.
- Generate and maintain Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and other financial reports.
- Collaborate closely with property managers to support operational and financial needs.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate records of tenant charges, lease abstracts, and rent rolls.
- Assist with year-end audits and tax preparation.
- Implement and improve accounting systems and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of accounting experience in commercial real estate.
- Strong knowledge of CAM reconciliations, bank reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
