Company Overview

Our client is a growing independent distributor of consumer packaged goods (CPG) serving national and regional retail partners across multiple product categories. The company continues to expand its product portfolio and retail footprint by helping partners drive store traffic, increase product velocity, and optimize category performance.


Position Summary

The Senior Manager, FP&A is a hands-on finance leader responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and operational financial analysis, while also overseeing core accounting operations.

This role partners closely with Sales, Operations, and Executive Leadership to drive informed business decisions through data-driven insights. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, operational awareness, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable strategy.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead the annual budgeting process and manage quarterly forecasting updates
• Develop SKU, customer, and channel-level profitability analysis
• Analyze gross margin trends, pricing strategies, and promotional impacts
• Build and maintain financial dashboards tracking revenue, volume, inventory turns, working capital, and cash flow
• Develop financial models supporting new product launches and market initiatives
• Partner with Sales and Operations teams to analyze pricing, promotions, and trade spend


CPG Trade Promotion & Revenue Analysis

• Develop promotional forecasts tied to retail promotions and product launches
• Analyze and model trade promotion spending, rebates, discounts, and promotional allowances
• Forecast product velocity and demand trends by SKU, retailer, and distribution channel
• Track and evaluate promotion ROI, sales lift, and margin impact across key retail partners
• Support financial planning for slotting fees, marketing programs, and promotional discounts
• Monitor and reconcile billbacks, chargebacks, and trade deductions from retail partners
• Collaborate with accounting and sales teams to ensure accurate financial treatment of promotional allowances and deductions
• Provide insights to leadership on trade promotion effectiveness and spend optimization


Accounting & Financial Operations Oversight

• Provide oversight to Accounting Manager / Controller functions, including GL, AR, AP, payroll, and inventory accounting
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly and year-end financial close processes
• Review monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
• Oversee excise tax accounting and multi-state regulatory compliance
• Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness
• Monitor inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and shrinkage trends


Operational & Strategic Financial Support

• Prepare cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis
• Support vendor negotiations and cost analysis for senior leadership
• Develop scenario models related to regulatory changes, pricing adjustments, or cost shifts
• Prepare financial schedules and documentation for lender and compliance reporting


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
CPA or MBA preferred
5–8+ years of progressive FP&A and/or accounting experience
• Experience within distribution, CPG, or regulated product industries strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
• Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks (Desktop, Online, Enterprise), NetSuite, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics
• Strong understanding of inventory and cost accounting

Compensation Details:

Base Salary: $115,000 – $135,000
Target Bonus: 10% – 20%
