We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Laboratory IT Support Engineer to provide technical support for customer laboratory environments integrated with scientific instrumentation. This role involves implementing benchtop computing designs, managing Windows-based systems, and ensuring secure, validated operations within GxP-compliant facilities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced lab environment and is passionate about supporting mission-critical scientific systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, monitor, and provide technical support for laboratory IT environments integrated with instrumentation
  • Administer and ensure connectivity and uptime of Windows-based platforms, including desktops and peripherals
  • Support instrument-controlled software, core desktop applications, operating systems, and computer imaging processes
  • Execute customer-specific benchtop IT design standards and process workflows
  • Manage lifecycle processes for lab equipment including onboarding, relocation, and retirement
  • Enforce Windows-based security practices, including user/group permissions, GPOs, and folder access policies
  • Analyze and implement platform enhancements and upgrades for performance and reliability
  • Maintain compliance with client policies via routine reporting and adherence to documentation practices
  • Serve as technical contact for instrument vendors and escalate infrastructure issues as needed
  • Provide hands-on support for system validations and change management efforts
  • Create and maintain inventory tracking of lab PCs, software, and related equipment
  • Submit weekly engineer status reports and participate in client team meetings
  • Act as liaison for software/hardware inquiries and participate across enterprise support practices
  • Uphold health, safety, environmental, and security standards relevant to the working environment

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to operate in laboratory-controlled environments using PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, etc.)
  • Requires regular movement between labs, corridors, and adjoining facilities
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Engage with lab instruments requiring bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching
  • Visual acuity to observe technical details in varied lighting conditions
  • May handle hazardous waste following local/state/federal regulations
  • Subject to respiratory fit testing and medical clearance for PPE when needed

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience with:
    • Windows IT Support: Active Directory, folder permissions/shared drives, SCCM, Acronis
    • Networking/Troubleshooting: Ethernet cabling, diagnostic skills, problem-solving in lab settings
    • Software/Tools: Zscaler, Dymo printers, ServiceNow, Windows 11 upgrade processes
    • Scientific & Instrumentation Environments
  • Background in GxP, ISO, and FDA-compliant laboratory settings
  • Experience supporting validated systems and regulated IT infrastructures
  • Strong technical communication and desktop support capabilities

Preferred Skills & Technologies

  • Linux administration and CLI familiarity
  • Group Policy Objects (GPO) and advanced configuration
  • Monitoring/logging tools such as Splunk
  • Security tools like CyberArk
  • Backup and DR tools like Druva

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
