A school in Washington, DC is seeking a qualified ELA Reading Teacher to support elementary and middle school students in a general education setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' literacy development and foster a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging and effective English Language Arts instruction aligned with curriculum standards for elementary and middle school students
  • Developing lesson plans that address diverse learning styles and support student mastery of reading skills
  • Assessing student progress regularly and adapting instruction to meet individual needs
  • Collaborating with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and support school-wide literacy initiatives
  • Maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth

Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching general education, specifically ELA or Reading, at the elementary and/or middle school level
  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction strategies and standards
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to accommodate varying student abilities and backgrounds
  • Effective classroom management and communication skills
  • Relevant teaching certification or licensure according to local requirements
