A school in Washington, DC is seeking a qualified ELA Reading Teacher to support elementary and middle school students in a general education setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' literacy development and foster a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging and effective English Language Arts instruction aligned with curriculum standards for elementary and middle school students
- Developing lesson plans that address diverse learning styles and support student mastery of reading skills
- Assessing student progress regularly and adapting instruction to meet individual needs
- Collaborating with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and support school-wide literacy initiatives
- Maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching general education, specifically ELA or Reading, at the elementary and/or middle school level
- Strong knowledge of literacy instruction strategies and standards
- Ability to differentiate instruction to accommodate varying student abilities and backgrounds
- Effective classroom management and communication skills
- Relevant teaching certification or licensure according to local requirements
