Welding Engineer | Walker, MI
Salary Range: $78,000 - $118,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement welding procedures and specifications to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Select appropriate welding processes, materials, and equipment for various manufacturing applications.
- Troubleshoot welding-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize defects and downtime.
- Conduct welding training and qualification programs for welding personnel to ensure competency and adherence to standards.
- Oversee and manage welding quality control processes, including inspection, testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to optimize product designs for manufacturability and weldability.
- Research and evaluate new welding technologies and techniques to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for all welding operations.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) certification.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing welding procedures (WPS, PQR) according to industry codes (AWS, ASME, API).
- Strong understanding of various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW) and their applications in manufacturing.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation of results (e.g., RT, UT, MT, PT).
- Proficiency in materials science, metallurgy, and heat treatment processes relevant to welding.
Bonus Qualifications
- - Experience with automated welding processes (e.g., robotic, laser, electron beam).
- - Familiarity with advanced NDT methods beyond basic visual inspection.
- - Certification in project management (e.g., PMP).
- - Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) of metals.
- - Knowledge of materials science related to weldability and performance under stress.
