Lead Preschool Teacher
Little Scholars Academy – Los Angeles & Long Beach
Little Scholars Academy is a well established early childhood education center with campuses in Los Angeles and Long Beach. We provide a nurturing, engaging, and joyful learning environment where young children are encouraged to explore, grow, and thrive. Our team of dedicated educators works together to support each child’s whole development and to build strong partnerships with families.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, energetic Lead Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is confident in the classroom, understands child development, and is comfortable using assessment tools to guide instruction. This role is central to creating a warm, structured, and enriching classroom experience for our preschoolers.
This position may be based at either our Los Angeles or Long Beach campus.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, engaging curriculum that supports social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development

Use DRDP, ASQ, and ECERS to observe, document, and assess children’s growth and to inform lesson planning

Create a positive, well organized classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and creativity

Design daily lesson plans that include a variety of teaching strategies, hands on activities, and learning centers

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual children, including those who need extra support or additional challenges

Build strong, respectful relationships with families and provide regular updates on children’s progress, milestones, and any concerns

Collaborate with other teachers and administration to support a cohesive program and a positive school culture

Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy classroom, consistently following all safety, health, and emergency procedures

Participate in ongoing professional development and reflect on practice to continuously grow as an educator
Qualifications

Teachers with strong ECE units and hands on classroom experience are encouraged to apply, bachelor’s degree in early childhood education are preferred or a closely related field required.

Must meet the requirements for a California Child Development Teacher Permit and be willing to obtain or upgrade the permit within 90 days of employment

Previous experience as a Lead Preschool Teacher in a licensed early childhood or preschool program

Proficiency with DRDP, ASQ, and ECERS, or willingness to quickly learn and apply these tools

Strong classroom management skills with a calm, positive, and consistent approach

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and families

Comfortable maintaining a clean, organized classroom and modeling good habits for children

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as part of everyday classroom responsibilities
