This opportunity is for a Registered Nurse with MedSurg and Telemetry experience to support patient care in a well-equipped academic medical center. This contract position is ideal for nurses with a minimum of two years MedSurg experience who seek hands-on experience with diverse adult medical patients at a Level 1 Trauma hospital.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in a 20-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit caring for patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, wounds, and CIWA management.
- Perform advanced skills including trach and chest tube care, IV starts, wound care/dressing changes, wound vac management, drains, and central line blood draws.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage non-titrating drips like Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix; experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone drips is a plus (training available).
- Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and residents to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Utilize EPIC EMR system and Alaris IV pumps for accurate medication administration and documentation.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing education to maintain clinical proficiency and comply with hospital protocols.
- Work the night shift (1830-0700) with an every-other-weekend rotation and holiday coverage on a 50% basis.
Qualifications / Desired Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Minimum 2 years of MedSurg nursing experience (first-time travelers not considered)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Experience with tracheostomy, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, and central line blood draws
