MUSIC THERAPIST JOB DESCRIPTION

Facility: Clinician reports to Heartsong, 277 Martine Avenue, Suite 230, White Plains, NY 10601; serves Saturday groups and various community facilities per Heartsong contracts.

\n


\n

Background: Heartsong Inc is an entirely creative arts therapy based non- profit organization that provides clinical, educational and rehabilitative creative arts therapy services to children and adults ranging in age, need, and ability. We staff creative arts therapists of all modalities (art, music, drama and dance) and have been privileged to serve over 1,200 children, adults and their families since our inception in 1992.

Position: Heartsong is currently seeking a Music Therapist to staff our Saturday program, run weekly telehealth sessions and fulfil upcoming contracts at area schools and nursing homes in Westchester the Bronx and New York City. Access to personal vehicle or comfortable navigating public transportation is a must as this job will require travel to various locations.

Reports to: Clinical Director

\n

Population: Children and Adults with Developmental Disabilities, Neurodiverse Children and Teens, Older Adults.

\n

Schedule: Saturdays (8-3:30) & weekdays in Westchester, Bronx and NYC area schools and nursing homes, September through June following the program year calendar with summer sessions in July and August.

\n

Qualifications: NYS LCAT or Limited Permit eligible; Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required

\n

Compensation: $40-45/hour (as employee), plus prep time.

\n

Clinical Sessions:

\n

1. Plan, implement and execute therapeutic interventions for each weekly session.

\n

2. Establish and maintain a therapeutic environment that facilitates development toward therapeutic goals through music therapy.

\n

3. Be thoroughly familiar with participants' developmental or functional needs that can impact the therapeutic process.

\n

4. Ensure that all groups have proper supervision.

\n

5. Responsible for immediate reporting of any and all incidents to Heartsong Clinical Director occurring during service time.

\n

6. Responsible for starting and ending groups according to established schedule.

\n

7. Responsible for setting up / maintaining an emotionally and physically safe environment for clients, volunteers, and interns.

\n


\n

Community Partners/Schools:

\n

1. Ensure teachers are kept informed of any changes in program that could impact clinical sessions.

\n

2. Discuss with teachers and administration any issues relevant to the clinical work, as needed/requested.

\n


\n

Volunteers:

\n

1. If applicable: direct volunteers during clinical sessions to optimize therapeutic environment.

\n


\n

Field Work Students/Interns:

\n

1. If applicable: interview and supervise student(s) and complete proper documentation.

\n

2. Supervise processing of all paperwork to the Heartsong main office.

\n


\n

Documentation:

\n

1. Prepare weekly progress note for each client, as required.

\n

2. Conduct assessments and complete forms as needed and, as required.

\n

3. Create treatment plans and treatment summary reviews, as required.

\n

4. Responsible for timely reporting (within 24 hours) of any and all incidents occurring during service time.

\n


\n

Program:

\n

1. Participate in required administrative, clinical and planning meetings.

\n

2. Responsible for leaving treatment environment in an organized and clean condition.

\n

3. Responsible for keeping all Heartsong equipment in good condition.

\n

4. Coordinate with Clinical Director to replace/purchase equipment and supplies for treatment sessions.

\n


\n

Job Type: Part-time, 4 days with the opportunity for more upon initiation of new contracts

\n
