At Ride Connection, transportation is a lifeline—and we’re looking for a compassionate, organized, and service-driven Transportation Specialist to help ensure older adults and people with disabilities can travel safely, independently, and with dignity.
About the Role
The Transportation Specialist plays a key role in supporting Ride Connection’s accessible transportation programs. Working closely with the Program Manager, this position helps oversee daily operations, support drivers and volunteers, coordinates schedules, and ensure vehicles and services run smoothly. You’ll be part problem-solver, part mentor, part logistics coordinator—and always an advocate for our riders and team.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting pay of $47,528 - $71,281 annually. Anticipated hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30 pm. Some weekends required as needed.

What You’ll Do
As a Transportation Specialist, you will:
- Support the delivery of safe, accessible, and equitable transportation services
- Assist with supervising daily transportation operations, including demand-response and shuttle services
- Help onboard, train, coach, and evaluate both paid and volunteer drivers
- Coordinate driver availability and scheduling with Ride Connection’s Service Center
- Assist with fleet oversight, including scheduling maintenance, and repairs
- Serve as additional driver as required
- Participate in after-hours and weekend duties as needed
- Maintain program records and submit required reports
- Collaborate with community partners and represent Ride Connection professionally
- Support inclusive, volunteer-friendly practices and excellent customer service
- Help ensure compliance with Ride Connection policies, procedures, and safety standards

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Two years of college coursework or equivalent education/experience
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Two to five years experience supervising and coaching
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
- Comfort using scheduling software and Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to coordinate and support both paid staff and volunteers
- Excellent customer service skills and professional phone communication
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driving record meeting Ride Connection standards
- Ability to pass a national criminal background check (fingerprinting required)
- Willingness to participate in a federal drug and alcohol testing program

- Knowledge of the local geographic area
- Experience in transportation services (demand-response, fixed route, or fleet maintenance)
- Bilingual or Multilingual abilities

Physical Requirements
This role is a mixture of office work and driving and may involve:
- Prolonged sitting and computer use
- Frequent phone communication
- Driving all sizes of Ride Connection vehicles
- Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
- Bending and reaching in enclosed spaces to secure mobility devices
- Visual, communication, and hearing demands consistent with transportation coordination
