A registered nurse position is available in a stepdown care setting focused on neurological and cardiac patients. This 13-week contract role offers a rewarding opportunity to provide specialized care in a progressive care unit, utilizing advanced nursing skills and clinical judgment.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications safely in line with protocols and state regulations.
- Coordinate care across disciplines, acting as the primary contact for patient care needs.
- Manage complex patients with multi-system organ failure and neurological conditions such as stroke.
- Maintain patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families, advocating for patient preferences.
- Utilize clinical judgment to respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Perform procedures including hemodynamic monitoring, conscious sedation, and transvenous pacing.
- Adhere to professional practice standards and infection control policies.
Qualifications / Desired Experience
- Current RN license valid in the state or under compact nursing licensure.
- Minimum one year of RN experience with at least six months in an acute care hospital setting.
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required. Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available).
- Neuro/stroke and progressive care experience preferred.
- Critical Care or Progressive Care certification (CCRN or PCCN) is a plus.
- Experience with electronic health records (preferably EPIC).
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts, working primarily in an 8-bed Neuro/Stroke Stepdown Unit with high acuity patients.
Additional Information
- Ratios typically 1:4 during days, adjusting per staffing availability.
- Pediatric beds on unit are reserved and not assigned to travelers.
- Candidates must be open to relocation; local applicants are not being considered.
