Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Deliver advanced post-operative care as a registered nurse in a dynamic surgical specialty unit specializing in colorectal and bariatric procedures. This contract position is based in a modern 20-bed private unit located in Shawnee, KS, offering a fast-paced environment that values expertise in med-surg nursing and critical care skills.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Solid med-surgical nursing experience
- Proficient in post-operative care and management of complex cases
- Skilled in ostomy care, NGT and Foley catheter management, central line maintenance, and wound care
- Experience with IV starts, blood administration, and nutritional supplementation including TPN and G/J tubes
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities / Duties:
- Provide high-quality patient care with a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 4:1
- Utilize advanced equipment such as Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural, Pyxis medication dispensing, and telemetry monitors
- Collaborate with a dedicated team including techs and unit secretaries to maintain smooth operations
- Maintain meticulous documentation in the Meditech system
- Participate in scheduling with every third weekend and select weekdays on shift rotation
- Support floating assignments across related units when necessary, including ortho neuro, med/tele, and CDU
