This opportunity offers a flexible paraprofessional role supporting special education classrooms across a large K-12 district in Lees Summit, Missouri. The assignment is to provide essential coverage for district paraprofessionals and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) on call-out days, helping to maintain smooth classroom functioning and individualized student support.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 or general classroom assistance in SPED classrooms across 22 elementary, 6 middle, and 5 high schools
- Supporting toileting and physical care routines with comfort and professionalism
- Adapting to various school schedules ranging from early starts (7:00 AM) to later shifts (up to 4:20 PM)
- Flexibly floating among multiple school sites as needed to fill call-out gaps
- Maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs
Desired qualifications:
- Active Substitute Certificate listed on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website
- Experience working as a paraprofessional or related role, preferably with SPED students
- Ability and willingness to assist with toileting and changing needs
- Flexibility to work between 7.5 and 37 hours weekly, with variable schedules depending on site demands
- Strong communication skills and professionalism when supporting diverse student needs
This short-term contract is expected to last approximately 1.5 to 2 weeks but can extend or convert to full-time if a suitable role becomes available and the candidate performs well. Multiple positions are available to accommodate ongoing substitute needs.
