Position: Clinical Research Dietician
Location: JCCT (Juno Research) Houston, TX
Department: Clinical Operations
Purpose:
The Dietitian role exists to enhance patient health outcomes by delivering evidence-based nutritional care, individualized meal planning, and health coaching. This position ensures compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards while promoting wellness and supporting chronic care management across multiple clinical locations.
Position Summary:
The Dietitian is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for assessing patient nutritional needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and providing health coaching to support weight management and overall well-being. This role involves working across two clinical sites, supervising dietary staff, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate nutrition into patient care. The Dietitian will maintain accurate documentation in compliance with protocol requirements and hospital systems, while staying current with research and best practices in nutrition and physiology.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Communicate with patients in both English AND Spanish.
- Complete training is required per each protocol and follow all protocol guidance and sources as established by the Sponsor and management teams.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate nutritional needs and dietary restrictions as per protocol requirements.
- Complete source documents as required by protocols AND enter information on EDC (Electronic Data System) for each study/Sponsor
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, including tube feeding protocols when necessary.
- Provide health coaching to patients, guiding them on weight loss strategies and healthy eating habits.
- Supervise dietary staff, ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines and quality standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition into patient care within acute care settings.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition plans as needed based on ongoing assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and treatment plans in compliance with hospital systems.
- Stay informed about the latest research in nutrition and physiology to provide evidence-based recommendations.
Education and Experience:
- A degree in Nutrition from an accredited institution is required.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is preferred, particularly in chronic care environments.
- Knowledge of supervising dietary teams is a plus, along with experience in tube feeding practices.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of physiology as it relates to nutrition and health outcomes is essential.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams are necessary.
- Familiarity with health coaching techniques and weight loss programs will be beneficial for this role.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move between patient rooms and clinical areas for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., medical supplies, nutritional products).
- Manual dexterity for preparing nutrition plans, handling feeding equipment, and entering data into electronic systems.
- Adequate vision and hearing to assess patients, read charts, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment across two locations may involve occasional bending, reaching, and prolonged sitting for documentation tasks.
