Position Overview
Cerro Alto Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital is a privately owned, non-corporate specialty and emergency hospital built around collaboration, growth, and doing high-level medicine the right way.
We are seeking an Internal Medicine Registered Veterinary Technician who is excited to be part of a team-first environment, contribute to advanced patient care, and continue developing their skill set alongside specialists in a supportive and fast-growing hospital.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Internal Medicine Case Management
- Assist the Internal Medicine specialist with appointments, consultations, diagnostics, and hospitalized case management
- Monitor hospitalized patients closely and communicate changes promptly to the medical team
- Provide high-quality nursing care, including medication administration, fluid therapy, nutritional support, and treatment monitoring
- Support patient care through all stages of diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
Technical Skills
- Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and laboratory testing
- Assist with advanced diagnostics, including bloodwork, urinalysis, endoscopy preparation, ultrasound support, and imaging procedures
- Administer medications, CRIs, sedation, and anesthesia support for diagnostic procedures when applicable
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure treatment plans are carried out efficiently
Client Communication
- Educate clients on diagnostic recommendations, treatment plans, medications, and ongoing case management
- Provide clear discharge instructions and follow-up guidance
- Support clients through complex medical cases with professionalism, empathy, and effective communication
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Internal Medicine specialists, ER, ICU, Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Oncology, and other specialty services to coordinate patient care
- Assist in maintaining efficient patient flow and case management throughout the hospital
- Participate in cross-training opportunities within ER/ICU to strengthen emergency and critical care skills
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented hospital culture

Requirements:Qualifications
- RVT/LVT/CVT required
- Experience in internal medicine or ER strongly preferred
- Strong technical skill set and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a team-first mindset

This is a full-time position primarily scheduled during daytime hours. Full-time team members typically work 10-hour shifts, 3–4 days per week. As a 24/7 specialty and emergency hospital, flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed is required.
