Job Description

Coordinate all facility and equipment cleanup operations in a manner which produces facilities, equipment and utensils ready to meet sanitary standards and production needs. Coordinate cleanup operations in and around the facility to produce a food safe and workplace safe atmosphere.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee cleaning of facilities, equipment and utensils to assure readiness for production schedule requirements.
  • Effectively utilize labor to complete daily, weekly and Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Oversee facility housekeeping to assure food and occupational safety.
  • Maintain Sanitation equipment.
  • Participate in the control of plant microorganisms through appropriate Sanitation measures.
  • Maintain a level of plant and departmental safety to meet company goals.
  • Assist Sanitation Manager and QA Manager during scheduled and regulatory inspections.
  • Assure compliance with GMP’s and company policies.
  • Effectively coordinate waste management and recycling program.
  • Perform and oversee food safety tasks as required for foreign material control, sanitation, critical control point operation, GMP’s and storage practices.
  • Perform and oversee tasks as designated for implementation and maintenance of the SQF Food Safety systems.
  • Train employees in proper sanitation procedure and use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Remain well-versed in Sanitation programs, ie. Master Sanitation Schedule, chemical usage and titration, and pest control and able to respond to auditors’ questions.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly reports which may include Chemical analysis, Microbiological analysis, Pest Control logs and self inspections.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Supervisory experience of 1-3 years, along with supervisory training or equivalent Plant Sanitarian training such as AIB, Pest Control, Microbiological and Chemical analysis.
  • Food plant sanitation experience.
  • General knowledge of cleaners and sanitizers used in a food processing environment.
  • General knowledge of control of microorganisms through Sanitation processes, including listeria, coliforms, and salmonella.
  • Flexibility to respond to changing needs throughout the shift.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills skills.
  • Solid ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Computer skills and ability to use email system.
  • Excellent “root cause” problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (read, write and converse) in order to receive written and verbal job and safety instructions, comprehend hazardous material labeling, follow schedules, and prepare reports as required.
