Summary
The purpose of this assignment is to meet the administrative and clinical needs of our gastroenterology providers and provide high-level patient care in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. The Medical Assistant (MA) works directly with the physicians, nurse practitioners, and management. Candidates should be able to perform all the essential job functions listed below.
Essential Job Functions:

Rooming of patients into the exam rooms

Recording of vital signs, medications, reason for visit, and meaningful use data into Athena Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Assisting practitioners with in-office procedures
-
Medical record preparation for upcoming office visits
-
Providing written and verbal dietary and procedure prep instructions
-
Scheduling of office visits, procedures, and diagnostic testing
-
Communication with patients and triage of phone calls / messaging
With experience, there will be opportunities to participate in additional office services:
-
Small bowel capsule endoscopy testing
-
Esophageal motility / pH testing
-
Perform breath testing (H. pylori, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)
-
Collection of specimens for genetic testing
-
Providing injections following universal precautions
-
Fibroscan liver testing
-
Provide Spanish translation as needed
Requirements:
-
Must have Medical Assistant certification from an accredited school
-
Full-time position
-
Must have reliable transportation.
Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
$21-26 / hr
