Summary:
The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in the delivering of high-quality patient care by supporting Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. This position involves performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties under the direction of the Center Administrator or Practice Supervisor to ensure an exceptional patient experience and overall satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient interviews and accurately document medical histories.
- Perform vital sign assessments, specimen collection, and health evaluations.
- Perform and assist with various clinical procedures, including but not limited to:
- DOT, Basic, and Respirator Examinations
- Pulmonary Function Tests and Electrocardiograms (EKGs)
- Venipuncture, vaccinations, and immunizations
- Wound care, dressing, splinting, and suturing assistance
- Audiovisual testing
- Provide laboratory services, including phlebotomy, specimen handling, and quality control.
- Prepare and administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
- Prepare patients for physical examinations in accordance with company protocols.
- Sterilize medical instruments and maintain clean, organized treatment areas.
- Accurately input patient data and medical histories into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Coordinate hospital admissions and laboratory services when necessary.
- Triage patients based on urgency and appointment schedules, managing 3-4 patients per hour.
- Deliver patient-centered care from arrival to departure, ensuring a positive experience.
- Ensure the clinic is fully stocked with necessary supplies and exam rooms are well-prepared.
- Offer front office support as needed through cross-training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent work experience.
- Current First Aid/ CPR certification from recognized program (American Red Cross, etc.) required or completed within first 60 days of employment.
- Must obtain a Federal Breath Alcohol Screening Certification and Federal Drug Screening Certification within 3 months of employment or promotion
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in patient management software.
- Demonstrated social perceptiveness and a service-oriented attitude.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
