Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive care for obstetric patients in a busy acute care hospital setting. Candidates must possess strong triage skills and be able to independently perform sterile vaginal examinations without supervision.
Schedule & Staffing
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend minimum; may exceed based on unit needs
- On-Call: Not required
- Floating: Required to Mother/Baby unit as needed
- Block Scheduling: Considered at manager discretion
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off one shift per two-week pay period
Required Qualifications
- Active RN License (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience preferred
- 1.5 years recent L&D experience is a hard stop
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Certifications
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- NRP
- AWHONN Advanced Certification (Required – Hard Stop)
Hard Stop Requirements
- Must have passed AWHONN Advanced
- Must have expert Labor & Delivery experience
- Must independently perform Sterile Vaginal Exams (SVE) without supervision
- Must have Labor & Delivery triage experience
- EPIC experience required

Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and care for laboring patients throughout the childbirth process
- Perform independent sterile vaginal examinations and triage assessments
- Monitor fetal heart tracings and maternal status
- Collaborate with obstetric providers to develop and implement care plans
- Provide labor support, education, and advocacy for patients and families
- Assist with emergency obstetric situations as needed
- Float to Mother/Baby unit when required
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
