Mississippi Sports Medicine of Oxford (formerly Oxford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine) is searching for a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant, who can handle working in a fast-paced clinic environment with a positive attitude, great teamwork, and a strong desire for efficiency. This position will provide high-quality care to patients seen within the clinic, under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant. (Experience to be considered in lieu of certification)
Duties/Responsibilities*:
- Escort patients to exam rooms, takes detailed history of present illness (HPI), and confirms the reason for the visit
- Prepare patients for examination and be present during examination/treatment to assist the physician in treatment procedures
- Assist physician in performing procedures
- Update electronic medical record with relevant and current information about their health condition and changes and progress in patients’ health
- Schedule patient follow up appointments
- Cleans and stocks exam rooms
- Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.
- Perform associated clerical tasks including scheduling, filing, returning phone calls, etc.
- Maintain a safe clinical environment in accordance with all OSHA guidelines
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
- Thorough knowledge of Orthopedic terminology and anatomy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Detail oriented with above average organizational skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical assistant certification strongly preferred (equivalent experience will be considered)
Physical Requirements:
- Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds or greater
- Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
