The Down Syndrome Association of the Valley is seeking a Community & Events Specialist to lead the planning, promotion, and execution of impactful fundraising and community events. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment and enjoys building relationships while delivering meaningful, well-organized events.
What You’ll Do
Event Planning & Coordination
· Develop and manage event logistics and marketing from concept through completion
- Coordinate logistics including vendors, venues, timelines, and materials
- Manage event budgets, track expenses, and secure necessary funding
- Develop and implement registration processes, sponsorship packages, and marketing materials
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Build relationships with local community groups, organizations, and potential partners
- Promote events through targeted marketing and communication efforts
- Recruit, coordinate, and support event volunteers
- Strengthen community awareness and participation in DSAV programs
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or related field
- Experience in event planning, community engagement, or similar work
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (experience with event tools a plus)
- Position can require frequent lifting and carrying of up to 35 pounds
- Positive and self-motivated- with enthusiasm for community engagement
Schedule & Flexibility
- Part-time (up to 24 hours/week)
- Flexible hybrid/remote schedule with some evenings and weekends required in weeks leading up to major events
