Job Title: Director of Nursing (DON)
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11206
Assignment Duration: 14-Week Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Compensation:

Local: Up to $102/hour

Travel: Up to $120/hour (including stipends)
Position Overview
The Director of Nursing (DON) provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing services within an acute care hospital setting. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing nursing programs that enhance patient care quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote staff development and performance. The DON works closely with Nurse Managers and hospital leadership to monitor unit performance, address corrective actions, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop initiatives to improve patient care delivery and nursing staff performance

Collaborate with Nurse Managers to monitor unit-level clinical outcomes

Assess nursing units and support corrective action plans when needed

Develop and maintain documentation related to medication errors, counseling, and performance management

Communicate performance metrics and improvement strategies to nursing leadership

Support quality assurance and performance improvement programs

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional nursing standards, and regulatory requirements

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Perform additional administrative and leadership duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven nursing leadership and supervisory capabilities

Strong clinical assessment and corrective action implementation skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Strong organizational and documentation skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Sound judgment in complex clinical and administrative situations
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum 7 years of nursing experience
-
At least 5 years in a supervisory or nursing leadership role
Education Requirements
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — Required
-
Master’s degree in Nursing — Preferred
Licensure & Certifications
-
Active New York State RN License
-
Primary Source Verification via New York State Department of Education (NYSED)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
