Minimum Requirements:Applicants must meet the following qualifications to be considered:
- Minimum of one year of childcare experience.
- Must be flexible with scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Position Objective:The Youth Activities Counselor is responsible for all activities related to youth programming at the Club, including but not limited to assisting with the creation, implementation, and oversight of family-friendly events and youth programs, event setup and cleanup, and supervising younger members in a safe and friendly environment.
Position Functions and Duties:
- Greet members and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Respond to member questions by providing accurate information and answering telephone calls professionally.
- Assist with setup, decorations, and safety checks prior to events.
- Host and engage children and families in activities, including pool activities, events, camps, and holiday programs.
- Assist parents with signing children in and out and verifying identification.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with all Club standards, policies, and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Maintain awareness of all children's allergies and special needs.
- Supervise children and use sound judgment while they are in our care, adhering to all rules regarding younger members.
- Assist with handling children's meals.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding unforeseen circumstances and respond appropriately.
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and secure locking of the children's playroom.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Minimum of one year of childcare experience required.
- Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications, and office equipment.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and enjoyment of working with children of all age groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, clients, and employees.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to project voice and gain the attention and cooperation of young members.
- Ability to perform required roles during emergency situations.
- Commitment to working safely, prudently, and in an organized manner.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.
- Strong team player with the ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to safely lift up to 30 pounds.
- Continuous walking and standing throughout shifts.
- Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, and repetitive motions.
- Ability to reach, bend, and stoop regularly.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly.
- Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Ability to effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by members, guests, and team members.
Typical Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments that may be busy and noisy.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and cooler temperatures.
- Schedule may vary and include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs dictate.
