VP of Operations - Residential Builder

Lawrenceville, GA - On-Site

Our client, a privately held residential homebuilder with a strong and growing presence in the Atlanta metro area. The company has built a solid reputation for quality construction, well-planned communities, and disciplined operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Procurement Strategy:

  • Strategic Sourcing: Developing and executing procurement strategies to reduce total cost of ownership while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Vendor Management: Negotiating, analyzing, and maintaining relationships with key suppliers.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control: Maximizing bottom-line profitability through careful, data-driven procurement decisions.
  • Contingency Planning: Developing contingency plans for supply disruptions.
  • Market Monitoring: Monitoring market trends and adjusting procurement strategies accordingly.

Permitting & Compliance:

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensuring all operational activities comply with local, state, and federal laws.
  • End-to-End Permitting: Overseeing the lifecycle of permit applications, from research and documentation to submission and approval.
  • Risk Management: Proactively tracking permit status to prevent project delays.

Operational Leadership:

  • Process Optimization: Identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements across operations.
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Leading teams to align procurement and permitting with broader business goals.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Using BI tools and dashboards to monitor performance and provide updates to stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: 8–15+ years of experience in operations management, procurement, or related fields.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Competencies: Strong negotiation, analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with supply chain management, CRM, and project management tools (e.g., NetSuite, Workday, Asana).
