Job Brief
This position is responsible for defining metallurgical requirements for orders, providing technical support for both internal and external customers, as well as assisting or leading continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Perform metallurgical analyses of the products' (skelp / steel coil) mechanical and chemical properties, reviewing this data against customer technical specifications.
- Act as a liaison between vendors and customers within the quality department.
- Participate in meetings to resolve and improve quality and service.
- Conduct on-site vendor audits of production and testing practices.
- Lead investigation of production problems related to metallurgical or vendor issues.
- Assist in maintaining standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 3 or more years' experience working with metals/alloys in an industrial setting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience applying industry regulations/standards as they relate to metallurgy and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
