The Role
We're seeking a Traffic Sign Fabricator to join our production team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with advanced equipment and contribute to the fabrication of critical traffic and interstate guide signs. As a Traffic Sign Fabricator, you will be responsible for the fabrication, application, and assembly of traffic signs, working with various materials and equipment in our manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
Sign Fabrication
- Process and assemble tiled layouts for large interstate guide signs using shears, saws, punch press, turret press, and routing equipment.
Material Application
- Layout and apply pressure-sensitive vinyl film and reflective sheeting to various substrate materials including aluminum, plastic, and composite sign blanks.
Sign Assembly
- Lift sign blanks onto application tables to apply sign faces, legends, or sheeting; assemble signs with bracing and hardware.
Material Preparation
- Fabricate sign blanks by cutting down large sheets of aluminum, plastic, or composite material; add corner radiuses, hole punching, and deburring as necessary.
Specialty Processing
- Flame treat plastics for the application of sheeting on barricades and signal backplates.
Material Handling
- Load and unload signs on storage racks and trailers used for delivering signs; climb trailer rungs to strap signs securely.
Quality Control
- Measure accurately for layouts, cutting, and application; read and interpret work orders for production instructions.
Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain equipment and cleanliness of work area; operate forklift trucks and cranes designed to move signs from racks to trailers.
Cross Training
- Float to regular applications when necessary.
Skills & Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The following qualifications are important:
- Production experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in a high-volume manufacturing environment with efficiency and accuracy.
- Good hand-eye coordination for precise application and assembly work.
- Basic math skills for taking measurements and cutting accurate dimensions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions carefully.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Demonstrates mechanical intuition and problem-solving abilities.
- Friendly team player who works well with others in a collaborative environment.
- Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
- Ability to handle sign materials weighing up to 75 lbs. for fabrication and application.
- Physical capability for frequent standing, reaching, bending, stooping, and kneeling to process sign materials.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse manufacturing environment for extended periods.
- Ability to climb trailer rungs and work at heights when loading and securing signs.
This position requires on-site presence in our manufacturing facility.
