Job DescriptionBoarhog LLC is hiring a Navy SLQ-32/SEWIP Technician with experience in performing comprehensive component and system level maintenance for shipboard Systems. The work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) on Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.
Future SCSC capabilities include High Energy Laser with Integrated Optical-Dazzler and Surveillance Weapon System (HELIOS), next-generation radars, the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP), and a cooperative with NASA developing Unmanned Arial Vehicles and supporting Large Space Vehicle launches as SCSC continues to evolve toward becoming the preferred asset for technology and systems integration, test and verification of combat systems across the five battlespace domains of space, surface, air, undersea, and cyberspace / electronic warfare. Technicians with an interest in expanding their systems expertise are afforded opportunities to work on these and other capabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:This technician will perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance on all SLQ-32 and SEWIP systems in the AEGIS and SSDS facilities at SCSC, and provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants. The technician will schedule planned maintenance actions using the SKED program in accordance with the Navy’s Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.
WORK SCHEDULE:Successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations that may be scheduled on a rotational basis:
- Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift
- Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift
- Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
- Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED
- At least three (3) years demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment.
- PQS 301 qualification. If selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within three (3) months of employment.
- DoD Secret level security clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are established by the U.S. government, to include being a U.S. citizen. If the selected candidate does not hold a Secret clearance, the contingent offer will delay the start date until an interim Secret clearance is granted.
PREFERRED but not required:
- Active DoD Secret security clearance
- Certified ETA Fiber Optic Installer
- Security+ Certification
- Experience with Network devices and an understanding of Operating Systems, preferably RedHat or UNIX
