Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in Emergency Room care is sought for a contract position located at Holloman Air Force Base, NM. This opportunity involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population ranging from clinic-type cases to critical emergencies, including strokes, STEMIs, level I traumas, post-surgical complications, pregnancy complications, pediatrics, behavioral health, and other emergency department needs. Recent ER trauma experience (trauma I, II, or III) is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver nursing care following the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Manage complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, or caregivers.
• Make appropriate patient care assignments and delegate tasks to other healthcare providers.
• Adhere to organizational competencies such as leadership in practice and patient care quality.
• Participate in mandated orientation, competency validations, and ongoing skills verification.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in emergency nursing or a related specialty preferred.
• Current RN license in New Mexico or a compact state.
• Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (AHA approved).
• Completion of New Nurses Orientation and ED-specific competency validation within 30 days for new hires.

Work Schedule:

• Multiple shifts available, including weekends.
• Requirement to work 6 weekend days per 6 weeks.
• Two on-call shifts required per 6 weeks to assist with emergencies or additional shifts as needed.
