Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Med/Surg RN with strong critical thinking and assessment skills is needed for a night shift role in a 41-bed unit dedicated to providing comprehensive care to post-surgical and medically complex patients. This 13-week contract position requires delivering high-quality nursing care in a teaching hospital environment with experienced leadership and CNA support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care for a diverse Med/Surg population including post-surgical patients, those with UTI, sepsis, COPD, CHF, and high fall risk
- Manage specialized skillset tasks such as chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, catheter care, ostomy care, Heparin drips, blood administration, tracheostomy care, remote telemetry monitoring, and PCA management
- Demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking to identify patient needs and changes in condition promptly
- Collaborate as a team member, including possible precepting of students and new hires
- Float within skillset to nearby campuses with advance notice
- Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 pm to 7:00 am, including three weekends out of every six-week schedule and some holiday shifts
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current active compact RN license
- AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience with trauma level II exposure
- At least one travel assignment completed
- Recent EPIC electronic charting experience (checkoff class required)
- Social, resilient, adaptable, and a strong work ethic

Additional Details:
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week (48 hours accepted upon request)
- Overtime applies after 52 hours on extended schedules
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- Scrubs must be free of competing health system or agency logos
- COVID-19 vaccine not currently required (subject to change)
- Contract length: 13 weeks with bi-weekly orientation starting 4/20
- Strict 40-mile radius rule for local candidate eligibility
