Summary of position
The Director shall serve as the Administrative Officer of the Little Methodist Preschool (LMPS). The Director shall be responsible for the daily operation of the preschool program. The Director will be responsible for compliance with state licensing regulations and for communications with the licensing agency. The Director, or designee, shall be on the premises during the hours the Preschool is in operation. The Director and the substitute Director must be in compliance with §101215.1 and §101216 of the California State Child Care Center Licensing Regulations (CSCCCLR).
Qualifications
· The Director must have the appropriate education and experience in Early Childhood Studies as specified in section 101215.1 and 101216 of the CSCCCLR
· Successful completion of Live Scan criminal record clearance
· Completion of Community Care Licensing Division Record Keeping Orientation
· CPR and First Aid certified
· Strong personal faith
· Ability to fully embrace the vision and values of First United Methodist Church of Lodi
Essential Functions:
· Insure the licensing of the Preschool through the State and local regulatory agencies
· Conform to health, safety and licensing regulations
· Meet regularly with the LMPS Board equipping members to make wise decision regarding the administration of the preschool, with full transparency of financial matters
· Keep accurate records pertinent to the administration of the LMPS
· Define policies of admission, attendance, tuition and educational goals
· Supervise the management of classroom curriculum, schedules, equipment and planning
· Manage all registration matters, including inquiries, records, fees, waiting list, etc.
· Determine appropriate class placement for each child, making sure classroom lists are accurate
· Plan and implement a program for professional growth of staff
· Plan and maintain a program designed to foster positive school/staff/parent relationships
· Plan and implement parent’s orientation, update Handbook; encourage parent/teacher conferences and support parent education programs
· Keep parents and staff informed of school events, activities, and fundraisers
· Prepare the Preschool brochure, classroom lists and schedules
· Plan for, equip, and maintain the outdoor and indoor classroom
· Assist in carnival fundraiser and purchase supplies
· Maintain the preschool office in a tidy and functional manner
Fiscal Responsibilities
· Oversee the financial resources and maintain financial records
· Prepare the annual Preschool budget with the advice and approval of the Preschool Board
· Review the year-end analysis of the budget
· Approve timesheets for payroll
· Supervise collection of tuition
· Purchase equipment, school supplies and office supplies
· Arrange for repairs and maintenance of school equipment
Staff
· Prepare and issue all staff job descriptions, terms of employment and employment agreements
· Recruit, interview and select staff members with an LMPS Board representative, a First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) representative, and an LMPS staff member
· Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings
· Meet with the staff periodically throughout the year for school and personal evaluation and input, keeping written records of reviews
· Attend church staff and committee meetings of which the Preschool Director is a member and report on administration, finances, and program
Health and Safety
· Keep children’s files in accordance with state and local regulations
· Maintain a referral system for children who have special needs
· Plan and implement a health and safety program
· Organize repair days: at least before school opens and before Open House
· Organize and supervise facility cleaning
Children’s Program
· Work with the staff in organizing programs, routines and policies
· Monitor individual teacher’s classrooms to insure operations are within the policy, philosophy and goals of LMPS
· Review the evaluation of each child
